Dr Stefan Scheuner

It is with great sadness that the practice has announced the passing of Dr Stefan Scheuner.

Dr Scheuner came to the UK from Germany in 1995 and remained here. He initially specialised in hospital medicine and had been a Forest GP since 2003. He had been a partner here at Blakeney Surgery for 15 years until his retirement due to ill health in May 2022. He nonetheless continued to maintain an active interest in the practice and its patients.

He was a highly respected, dedicated and compassionate GP and will be remembered for his professionalism, expertise and kindness. He will be sorely missed by both the practice team and his patients and we are very grateful for his outstanding service over many years.

Dr Scheuner’s long standing commitment to healthcare in the Forest extended to his work supporting the Forest Community Hospitals. He was the Chief Medical Officer at the Dilke Community Hospital for many years and also worked at Lydney Hospital until 2019. He was very highly regarded by his hospital colleagues.

Stefan was much loved and respected by both colleagues and friends. He will be remembered fondly as a sailing fanatic with a great sense of adventure.

On behalf of the practice team and patients, we would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to Dr Scheuner’s family and friends, in particular his children and his mother, at this very difficult time.

We would ask you to please show kindness and consideration to members of the practice team who are deeply saddened and are working hard to ensure service continuity for our patients.

We kindly request that you do not contact the team with non-medical questions or comments about Dr Scheuner; we will provide further updates on the practice website.

A book of condolences will be available at the Practice from next week for any patients who wish to share sympathies or memories of Dr Scheuner with the practice and his family.

Best wishes

Dr Anna Raymond
