These accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.

You can also:

  • fill out a repeat prescriptions request form
  • drop your white repeat slip into one of the boxes provided at the front door or in the foyer with the required items clearly marked
  • call our dispensary on 01594 510225 select option 3 between 9am and 11am.

Collecting your prescription

Information:

Prescriptions requested before 11am will be ready for collection from 11am, 2 working days later. Please remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

We are a dispensing surgery and provided you live more than one mile from the nearest pharmacy we will dispense to you. A four weeks supply of medicines is prescribed at one time.

Acute prescriptions

After you have been seen by a clinician, 90% of prescriptions will be issued to you at the time of your appointment, however, some occasions may require you to either come back and collect your script or we will send it to the pharmacy of your choice.

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription:

Medication reviews

Repeat medication is usually authorised for six months unless otherwise specified. Generally, you will be asked to speak to or be seen by a clinician at the end of this period.

Please ensure that you book an appointment for a medication review in time to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions. If you enquire with the surgery and provide us with the details of your medical review we will direct you to the relevant clinician.

Our highly trained practice nurses oversee all routine check-up’s.

Prescription charges

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

You can find out if you are entitled to free prescriptions by visiting the NHS website.

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

View the cost of prescriptions on the NHS website.

What to do with old medicines

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.
